OSI Awarded Contract for IBNS to be Supplied to RCN Land-Based Testing Facility

To be Used in CSC Ship Integration

  • Purpose-built Land-Based Testing Facility to help bring CSC into service
  • OSI to deliver IBNS for testing and integration studies
  • INBS is a variant of OSI’s leading Integrated Navigation & Tactical System

May 28, 2024 – Burnaby, Canada – OSI Maritime Systems (OSI) is pleased to announce its recent contract award to develop and directly supply an Integrated Bridge Navigation System (IBNS) to support the Land-Based Testing Facility (LBTF) for the Royal Canadian Navy’s (RCN) Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC) Project.

The new facility will be used to test the navigation, combat, and communication systems for the CSC.  The purpose-built LBTF will help bring the new RCN’s CSC into service and support them throughout their lifespan. This infrastructure will play a critical role in the testing of the new CSC ships’ systems and will ensure the ships are sea-ready once they are delivered.

“The LBTF is an exciting project. It will set the path for the CSC’s IBNS and lay the groundwork for future integrated bridge system technologies,” stated Ken Kirkpatrick, President & CEO, OSI. “The installation of a land-based IBNS is a new opportunity that will significantly benefit the navy as it learns to understand the system’s capabilities and begins to adopt additional technologies to expand it further.”

Powered by ECPINS, the IBNS is derived from OSI’s advanced Integrated Navigation & Tactical System (INTS), which represents leading maritime navigation technology and empowers the RCN to navigate with precision and confidence. ECPINS and OSI’s INTS underlying technology allow for the integration of an array of other warship surface and subsurface systems for navigation and tactical purposes.

“We value our partnership with the RCN,” said Jim Davison, VP of Business Development. “Our collaboration ensures safety and security for RCN ships and crew, while providing invaluable development opportunities for the underlying technologies. Insights from our interactions continually drive us to enhance our equipment, ensuring top performance and reliability.”
