The World’s Choice, Canada’s Own

Positioning Canada as a Leader | Global Export

OSI delivers world-leading Integrated Naval Navigation and Tactical Solutions to 27 NATO and Allied navies—including the Royal Canadian Navy—providing critical mission-ready technology. Approximately 80% of what OSI builds in Burnaby, BC is now exported. By scaling Burnaby-made technology to NATO and Allied fleets, OSI advances Canadian-owned IP in the global arena, proving our systems are the trusted choice for modern naval operations.

Scaling Innovation & Dual-Use Tech

Innovation is a continuous focus for OSI, particularly in the realm of AI-augmented navigation. A primary example is the recently launched Collision Avoidance Decision Aid (CADA), which utilizes advanced algorithms to enhance maritime safety and situational awareness. OSI’s systems are unique in the dual-certification (IMO-compliant and NATO-compliant), aligned with the DIS’s focus on versatile, high-tech exports.

OSI is responsible for the design and manufacturing of its products, including IBNS and ECPINS software (WECDIS). These systems are developed specifically to meet the unique operational requirements of the naval customers.

Arctic Sovereignty

OSI’s successful implementation of navigation systems on the Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ships (AOPS) is a direct contribution to this pillar. Our systems allow the RCN and the CCG to operate safely in the challenging environments of the High Arctic.

Strengthening Supply Chains (SME Support)

OSI’s growth supports the creation of high-quality jobs in the defense sector, maintaining a highly skilled engineering workforce in Burnaby, BC. OSI’s projects also involve other Canadian SMEs. As a major player in the Canadian defense sector, OSI acts as a bridge for smaller businesses, helping to distribute the economic benefits of large-scale naval projects across the domestic supply chain.
