At OSI, we build strength upon strength. As a company headquartered in Canada, a nation known for its vast coastal ice regions, our leadership in ice navigation is well recognized.

A prime example is the Arctic Offshore Patrol Ship (AOPS), which can operate in ice as thick as 120 centimeters. Equipped with OSI solutions, AOPS navigates some of the world’s most challenging maritime conditions with confidence and precision.

Polar Navigation

ECPINS is regularly used, and comes ready for, operations in the polar regions. Using a Polar Stereographic projection, ECPINS’ Polar North (PN) and Polar South (PS) features support operations at high latitudes and in the polar regions. At latitudes between 80° and 90° North or South, ECPINS will automatically switch to the PN / PS projection, Polar Grid coordinates may be used, and ECPINS’ Polar Mode enables position, bearing, and heading information to be output to connected systems in Polar Grid coordinates.

OSI has been delivering ECPINS systems into ships and submarines operating in the polar regions for more than 20 years. OSI’s ECPINS is a fully certified WECDIS that functions as a key enabler to surfaced and dived navigation, providing both the user interface with the integrated system, and optimising the practice of safe navigation for vessels operating in challenging environments.
